What is Eco?

The problem Eco solves, who it helps, and its relationship to Orbio.

Learn what Eco does, who it helps, and how it fits with Orbio.

The problem#

Not every request needs your most expensive model. A short rewrite and a difficult reasoning task have different needs. Choosing a model manually for each request adds work.

The product#

Eco is a cost-smart router for Orbio. Send a request with model: "auto/balanced". Eco checks the task and chooses the cheapest eligible model in the tier it selects.

You can inspect the choice in the playground, then connect your own application through an OpenAI-compatible Chat Completions API.

Eco and Orbio#

You bring your own Orbio key and credits. Eco chooses a route. Orbio validates your key, runs the model call, and accounts for credits. Eco does not issue keys or hold a balance.

The public website is orbioeco.sh. The API is at https://api.orbioeco.sh. Start with Installation & usage.

Who it is for#

Eco helps builders using Orbio who want to reduce manual model selection. Partners and stakeholders can use the playground to understand the routing decision before integrating.

Use auto/balanced as a starting point. You can also favor cost or capability, or send an exact model id when you want to choose yourself. See How it works.

What it is not#

Eco is not a model provider, an account system, or a billing service. It does not promise the best answer or a saving on every request. Its API supports chat completions; it does not add embeddings, image generation, or audio endpoints.

Catalog prices are seed snapshots. Savings illustrations are estimates, not guarantees. A routing classifier can also spend credits.
